Note on selecting a graduate program: There are three approaches that schools generally use to accept graduate students. The application should be completed neatly, accurately, and completely. Although this may be true to some extent, all writers benefit from reviewing their work with a writing tutor.

At this point, you should be very familiar with a potential advisor's research and will be prepared to answer such questions as "What kind of research projects might you be interested in pursuing if you were part of my lab? Often the best people to critique your essay are your advisor or your recommendation letter writers as they will be able to tell you what to stress and what to minimize or delete. In addition to the complete application form, items required by you for application might include graduate admission test scores, transcripts, letters of recommendation, an essay or statement of intent. Your application will be evaluated by a specific department and its faculty members rather than a central admissions office.
